Ok, so much for updates, this seems to have become a monthly thing these days (or months, I should say). Will try to do better. Stupid work gets in the way of all the important things!
Andras figures it's always the sign of a good party if you wind up with a blue line reaching from your nose to your mouth! This was taken right after Clara's "Pyjama Playdate" this morning. The computer teacher at my school, Kathy, brought her two boys over for breakfast (all in our pyjamas). Her younger son, Quinn, is 3 months older than Clara, and her older son, Keller, is 4 and in one of my pre-K classes. Nice family. (Dad is the music teacher at our school, but he wasn't feeling well today so didn't join us.)

Clara LOVES her music classes that we've been going to, and we've recently bought the CD that the teacher uses. She's always requesting her favourite 'Alma' (apple) song, and has regular 'song and dance' pauses at random moments throughout the day. Here she was reading a book and suddenly felt the need to stop and do a little routine in the middle of it.
As it happens, we have all the same kind of instruments at home too, so she loves to 'chooch' (sit) and play along to her new CD.

We got quite a bit of snow already, it looks like we might be in for a heavy winter. We hadn't expected it quite so soon and were in a bit of a panic mode from last Saturday to Wednesday, but we now have winters tires, a shovel, a snowsuit, and winter boots! Whew! Just in time for all this rain we've got today ;/

Clara is working on her spelling patterns. We found some cute wooden magnetic letters for her for Christmas, but I couldn't resist and gave her the uppercase letters now! (We may need a bigger fridge for the lowercase letters and numbers she'll be getting in a few weeks.)

I've got Clara trained to bring me a cup of coffee when I get home from school. Seriously, though, I do actually have her trained to go and ask her dad if he wants a coffee.

I'm happy to report that she has taken a renewed interest in books in the last couple of months. When she was busy learning to walk she lost all interest in books, since reading requires stopping moving for a moment, but then we had some people over and their son was very interested in Clara's books. When I sat down with him to read one, she immediately came over to check it out. And since then, she loves to read again! Yay! This is one of her favourites these days, The Eye Book by Dr. Seuss.

Clara's latest obsession is watching opera on YouTube! She LOVES LOVES LOVES to watch the Papageno/Papagena scene from The Magic Flute. She even recognises that the singers are dressed as birds and does her bird sign as she's watching. She sits mesmerised the whole time it's on (about 3 minutes), and as soon as it's done (or sometimes even if they take a breath) she claps and shouts 'more'! What a cultured child!
